Degree of Carbon :

Carbon connected with 1 carbon or no carbon i.e. methane is known as 1 ⁰ Carbon
Carbon connected with 2 carbon atoms is known as 2 ⁰ Carbon
Carbon connected with 3 carbon atoms is known as 3 ⁰ Carbon

Degree of Hydrogen :

Hydrogen connected with 1⁰ carbon is called 1 ⁰ Hydrogen.
Hydrogen connected with 2⁰ carbon is called 2 ⁰ Hydrogen.
Hydrogen connected with 3⁰ carbon is called 3 ⁰ Hydrogen.
