Pi bond is also a type of covalent bond. If sharing or ovelapping of orbitals takes place on the axis perpendicular to the bond axis (the axis connecting the nuclei of two atoms), it is called Pi bond π. See the animation here.
From Organic chemistry point of view any additional bond between any two atom (in addition to the sigma bond ) is called Pi Bond .
